nearby waterhole.
Serena Mountain Lodge is surrounded by a dense rainforest that comes
alive with the sounds of the wild, while the rocky peaks of Mount Kenya
overlooks its abundant game. Elephant, buffalo, rhino and waterbuck are
regular sights at the 42-roomed lodge.
The lodge is ideally situated as a base for those who want to climb
Mount Kenya. For the daring and sporty, hikes to the top of Mount
Kenya, accompanied by an experienced mountain guide and porters, can be
arranged.
Arrangements for forest walks can be made and are a unique experience
with on-foot sightings of game and birdlife. A viewing bunker that is
connected to the lodge by a short tunnel allows you to get up close to
the animals that feed at the watering hole.
Guest services and amenities at the Serena Mountain Lodge include
individually tailored forest trails, moorland hikes and mountain
climbs; a private waterhole and salt lick, which acts as a magnet for
the region's wildlife (especially elephant); post mountain-climbing

paths of the Rainforest Nature Trail in the company of the resident
naturalist, Wildlife and Mountain Wilderness' talks and slide-shows by
the resident naturalist. You can also enjoy Kikuyu dancing and cultural
displays, walking in the forest (accompanied by resident naturalist), a
20km hike through the bamboo-covered slopes of Mount Kenya to 3 600m, a
5-day round-trip trek to Lenana Point, close to the summit of Mount
Kenya and game-spotting and wildlife observation by the waterhole and
salt lick.
